Lum's Char-Siu Sauce has been Hawaii's favorite marinade since 1951. It's sooo easy to use....just marinate your spare ribs or short ribs overnight, then bake at 325F for 25 minutes on each side. Perfect for busy working folks to marinate the day before, then just bake the next evening.
This chinese marinade was invented by Mr. On Chew Lum in 1951. When he started using this sauce, he sold more spare ribs than several supermarket chains combined!
The word 'char' means 'fire', and 'siu' means 'skewer' in chinese. This refers to how 'char-siu' was made with such a marinade. The red color is characteristic to this delicacy.
